Hey there are like 6-8 nuts that hold it on... The right socket will fit around them although they don't look like they really take a socket(Don't remember what size).. But take those off and then pull it out..

Um why do you need to get under there for the shifter install?

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Because I have a 2000 and it is a different install. You have to install a plate under the car but I have it installed and it is awesome.

Are you saying you don't have to do anything under the car if you are installing a short shifter on a 98 SVT? (I ask because I may eventually get one)

They're two different plates. Mine was huge and goes under the car and the 98's and 99's go somewhere around the shift tower.

Yes, as I found out the 2000 model has a different style shifter tower than the earlier model cable shifter towers.. The earlier models need a smaller plate that basically raises the actual shifter tower up almost 1/4" where as on the 2000 model, you need to take out the foam lining that is accessible from under the car and put a plate there in it's place.. The foam actually went up into the car, so the Steeda having the longer base would make the shifter cable rub.. The plate that I made for mine gave the clearance I needed..
