I'm not quite sure when it happened, but I turned on my A/C the other day and NOTHIN'. Blows the air from outside. I remember something in the engine used to turn on when i switched the A/C on. It doesn't turn on now. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

You're probably just low on R134a. If you suspect a leak, you might want to consider taking it in to be tested, but otherwise you can pick up more refrigerant and do it yourself (except in my state where it is illegal).

if you are low on r134 your ac unit will cycle on and off frequently. get an ac system inspection done. you shoudl be able to find one for $40-$50. that will tell you exactly what is wrong.

Unless of course you're really low on r134a, as I was recently. Then your A/C won't do bupkis when you turn it on. I put 2.5 cans of refrigerant into my system and it's so cold now there's condensation on the outside of the windows. Go down to the local WallyWorld/PepBoys/etc. and get the recharge "kit" that includes the gauge. Hook that up to the low pressure port (closer to the battery) and start the car up and switch the A/C on Max and the fan on high. If the reading is 0 plan on putting in a few cans of refrigerant. If it's in the 25-40 range take it to a pro to get checked out.
Good luck,
Scott

- Is this the first time this year you have used the AC ?
- Are you giving it a few minutes to work ?
- As the others have mentioned, check the refrigerant level.
Good luck.
