ok with gas prices going sky high owning an svt is expensive in the tank!!!what im wondring is can u use a grade below the 93 octane?? here in ga its as high as 2.50 a gallon!!!!

You can go as low as 91 in an SVT. Otherwise you risk detonation.

ok i just read a report on premium fuel sayin u wont lose or gain any power from using the high grade stuff now what do u mean by detonation??the car will not stop or blow up??

Yes
What you read was about non-high compression engines not gaining any benefit from using premium. Engines that are designed and built to be run on premium (like our high compression SVT 2.5s) def need the stuff..to prevent detonation (do a google search..its a very basic engine concept).

"Regular fuel can be used in the SVT Contour without damaging engine components. The knock sensor will adjust the engine calibration to accomodate regular unleaded fuel. This may result in a degradation of engine performance."

Yeah, until your first bad tank of 87. Of course, maybe GA is different, but around here we have ethanol blends and shady station owners, so I don't fool around, I just drive the car less.

I go back and forth between 93 and 89, so the car gets an average of 91, the preferred octane. No problems that I know of. I don't race, so if I lose 1/10th sec in the quarter mile it's no biggie.

holy [censored] you guys are so cheap.
I'm a college student living on my own in California and I still put premium in the car every time. Good gas too, no cheap ass rotten robbie. It's like an extra $1.25 a fill up.

One of the main reasons I bought my SVT was because it required Premium fuel only
