Yo, Ive got a 1999 Cougar and a few questions.

I am planning on getting the stage 2 Web intake camshaft from zxtuner.com. anyways... keeping stock exhaust cam. I am guessing it would be ok keeping stock exhaust cam.

Also I was wondering exactly where I could fine my ecu code. I looked behind glove box all I found was the stock alarm box. I also looked behind passenger kick panel. I know its under power steering reservoir but where is it in interior?

Last question. early 2k Focus intake manifold. Anyone know if the Focus manifolds bolt to our blocks? What about their EGR etc.

Thanks,
Matt

I think gains using just one cam would not be all that great. Also best to go with aftermarket head.
ECU should be on passenger side sorta behind the glove box with a bracket on it. Have to remove bracket to see the code.
The intake manifold should bolt up. If it has EGR port or some crap on it, I'm sure you could just block it. Too bad all cougars have VCT, EGR rocks!

If you're gonna do something, do it right the first time.

you would do alright changing out the intake cam and using an adjustable cam gear to alter the cam duration on the exhaust cam. You'll have to disable the VCT though.

taken from Afterhours on NECO

I'm asumming he knows what hes talkin about...I don't have to worry about VCT though

The exhaust cam doesn't free up much power on NA engines.
Intake cam and cam gears will give 95% of the power gains.
Its on FI engines that need the longer exhaust durations.

VCT= Variable Cam Timing
EGR= Exhaust Gas Recirculation (I think)

It should bolt right up. The only problems that I've heard of is that the FRPP intake needs the mounting holes opened up a little.

BTW, you would have to block off the EGR port on the intake. (A simple flat metal plate)

Alternator mounting is different.
Our alternator is larger, so a mounting solution will need to be fabricated, easy to do.
Not sure if space/placement issues will be any problem.
