OK, I have a bad cylinder in my 2.5 and got a good deal on a low milage engine out of a '00 Mystique. Engine came with all the harnesses, alternator, AC compressor, intake manifolds and TB.

I know I will have to deal with some things like the difference in injector connectors (glad it came w/that harness!) and modifying the secondaries to run w/ vacuum. Saw some good info about those things here.

Is there anything else that I should be prepared to deal with?

Thanks!

Lots of anger and frustration. But you will get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

It has been done before. Basically you need to swap intake manifolds and injectors from the old engine and look carefull at whatever else may be a little different. You should be able to use the new exhaust manifolds but the 2nd set of oxygen sensors will serve no purpose on the 95 OBD I system.

If you do a search you can find the posts of at least one who has gone before. Unless you want to try to modify the new lower intake manifold to operate with vacuum secondariew (doable, but a bit of a hassle) you will have a desireable lower intake available for sale. There is also a post about converting the late lower intake to vacuum secondaries.

Update: The engine is running smoothly! I basicly had to swap all the sensors since the ones on the 00 engine all had differnet connectors. The only one that didn't fit was the knock sensor - the hole had to be enlarged for the old sensor. I used the LIM from the 95 because of the fuel rail/injector incompatibility.

But I must say that after seeing the MUCH larger size of the LIM from the 00 and the ported to match heads I really wanted to use that LIM!

I did pick up a LIM with injectors and fuel rail from a 99 Cougar. The cool thing about it is that the 99 injectors fit in the 00 LIM but have the same electrical connector as the 95 (turned 180° though). And the 99 has the return style fuel rail. (I'm sure you all knew all of this!) Not sure yet if the plastic harness cover will still fit with taller injectors.
