Hi Folks...
It looks like the City of Ottawa is planning to implement a noise control by-law that would prohibit motorsports events that start before 10:00am (and/or run past 11:00pm). If this goes ahead, it'll put a real crimp in the activities of the local go-kart club
(NCKC) as the only local track
(Karters Korners) is available (for BYOK racing) during the morning hours only.
Here are some details that were posted to the NCKC forum:

Folks,
The City of Ottawa in their infinite wisdom is looking to pass a by-law that would make life rather difficult for the club in racing within their boundaries. Specifically, this section:
Quote:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Motorsports - That the City regulate the noise from
motorsport events or competitions by requiring that
all of the vehicles used have effective mufflers, and
the activity is restricted to the hours between 10 am
and 11 p m.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Of course, this would really rule us out at Karters given the 10am restriction there.
In my opinion, it would be helpful if we could voice our disagreement with this on the city of ottawa web site:

If you think this is likely to affect you, I'd urge you to visit the link above and add your comments via the form provided!
