Ok, so I go to the dealer to get some maintance work done because I havn't had time to myself for the longest time. I want the brakes and clutch bled and new fluid put in. I have all the speedbleeders to do it myself, but like I said I just don't have time and want it done. They tell me at the dealer that it isn't necessary that I get it done, that brake fluid can go for 100K+ and not need to be changed! They also tell me that it is impossible to bleed the clutch, that you would have to get a new clutch altogether.. but my clutch is only a year old. Why is there a bleeder screw on the clutch if it is impossible to bleed? I just don't understand what they are telling me.
Thank you Kevin

My thinking:
Brake/clutch bleed = $
New clutch = $$$
Brake/clutch bleeding is something any shop should be able to do, not just a dealer. I would take it to another shop you trust.

What they are telling you is that they are either ignorant SOBs or they're trying to gouge you for a new clutch when you don't need one. Either way, RUN AWAY!!!! For the time you've wasted dealing with these chumps you could have installed the speedbleeders and beld the brakes yourself. Or find a good independent mechanic - get referrals from co-workers or friends.

I've heard a lot about a lot of idiotic dealer comments but that one takes the cake. I would point blank look at the guy and tell him he needs to go back to tech school.

oh the funniest thing is the fact they got 3 guys to look at it as I was telling them the clutch goes through the same resevior as the brakes... they all kept saying "well.. not to my knowledge"... So I decide to call up Pat Milliken Ford... service manager says "yeh.. the job is very easy.. will take no time at all"
I wish there was some place I could go to do something about this stupidity... geez
update: they went ahead and did the work... without bleeding the clutch... called me.. I yelled at them and they checked with their "trans guy" and called me back and apoligized.... for future reference to everyone... North Brothers ford in Garden City are morons.. thank you for your time.

First off, RUN away from that dealer as fast as you can, if they are so stupid that they can't preform the work, then they aren't worth going to. If they are so greedy that they would screw you out of money, then they're not worth going to either.
As for the comment about not being able to bleed the clutch, and not knowing the clutch and brakes shared a cylinder, that's not really that bad of a comment, my mother was given a much worse one: (Dealer) Miss, your transmission failed, and we went ahead and replaced it, (My Mom) Why did it fail, the car is brand new, and has only 1200 miles on it, I've had it for less than a month? (Dealer) Well, the transmission is engineered to fail perodically. (My Mom) So, you mean to tell me that my transmission will fail at 2400 miles, and every 1200 miles thereafter? (Dealer) Yes, yes it will.
This is a true story, we were stuck in Ohio for 2 weeks while this dumbass dealer replaced out transmission. We lived in Michigan at the time, we now live in Ohio. This dealer (Carroll Halliday Ford Lincoln Mercury) of Washington Court House, Ohio is the worst dealer I've ever seen or heard of, and the worst part is that they are the ONLY FRIGGIN Ford dealer within a half hour driving distance. Everyone here who has the choice of more than 1 Ford dealer to go to count you blessings.

BFE? That confuses me. Garden City is definitely in metro detroit a half hour from the city of Detroit...
Well I had no choice.. they went ahead and did the work.. then I told them to bleed the clutch after the found out they could do it. It wasn't a matter of them trying to screw me out of money.. they are just stupid. I had all the fluids checked after they did the work and the brake fluid is still a brown color. Is that right? I thought it was suppose to be clear now? hmm....

Depends on what you asked them to do. If all they did was bleed the system then yes. If you asked them to flush it (which is probably what you wanted) then the fluid in the reservoir better damned well be crystal clear.
