This should be entertaining, or maddening, depending on your current emotional state...

How many times have you been pulled over, how many have you been stuck with or gotten out of? Please add stories where nessessary.

I've been pulled over, I think, close to 20 times, by about every agency I've been near. As bad as I've always heard that THP is, it really depends what locale you're in. I've had awesome encounters with THP, and I've had bad encounters. I've heard the THP in Carthage on the plateau are ruthless, and I had a $169 ticket to prove it.

Aside from that ticket, I've had three others. Two in the same city, same speed trap, same cop, separated by about a year, and in two differen vehicles. The other was last year in Nashville for 81 in a 55 (if you're gonna get caught speeding, Metro Davidson County is the place to do it... all, and I do mean ALL moving violations carry a flat $50 fine. Even multiples are only $50 each.)

Whore on!

Peace

Jed

I'm 18. Pulled over one time: verbal warning. Next time: Cop hired by state to JUST give tickets. Took it to court (18 over) and got it dismissed and just paid the court fee.

Twice: First time was about 3 years ago going down Old Fort Mountain. I deserved it (~73mph in a 55). I got it reduced to 64. The second time was totally undeserved. I was driving on the beltline in Raleigh when they were doing that whole pull everyone over in site thing. They said I was going 80, but I was on the far right lane being passed by 4 cars on the left. The cop said the spotter couldn't pick me out of the pack... why the heck did you pull me then?!?

Just be careful with them. I had a ticket last year (they cop was a total jerk btw), and for some strange reason I paid for it in person (I guess I was just curious how that place looks - usually I mail in the check). I even kept the receipt in my wallet, which is absolutely unusual from me.

4 weeks later I got a mail: "Hey dude, you didn't pay and didn't show up in court, we haven't heard from you, gonna be in trouble big time".
Called in, told that I have the receipt in my hand. Took them 2 days of paper shuffling to find the payment record and they apologized at the end.
I don't know what would've happened if I just mailed it in.

Favorite technique.

Before he even gets to your car, have your car off, both hands on the wheel and license, registration & insurance in your hand.

Always respond with "Yes sir."
When he/she asks if you know why you were pulled over, "Yes sir, I was going a little quick." or "Yes sir, I rolled past that stop sign, I apologize."

Most of the time, if you treat cops w/ respect, and you make them feel like they have complete control of you and the situation, they'll let it ride.

Sometimes this works, but like when I got ticketed, the cop's only job is traffic violations so, especially on a pretty quiet night, there was no getting out of it. He didn't even talk to me, he just got my stuff and gave me the ticket.
And unless you have your license and registration always right by you, then I wouldn't go reaching for it in the glove box. That would make the cop extremely nervous. I just pull off the road as quickly/safely possible, turn car off, hands on wheel, and leave seat belt (harness in my case) on. And at night, it's good to have the dome light on, but my ticketing cop had an extremely bright spot light that he left on well after I was free to go, so I didn't really need a dome light on. ... There I go getting started again.

Me? Not a single ticket in over 4 over years.

I've had one DUI in all my years of driving and that was all it took.

let's see I have been pulled over about 6 times I think.... I tend to lose count after a while. 4 for speeding.... lead foot.... expired tag and oh yeah the seatbelt thing. I wear my seatbelt now. still have a heavy foot, but I try not to get put in jail. yeah I don't pay my fines until I am caught again....

been pulled over at least a dozen times since i've gotten my license at 16. most interesting pull over was couple of years ago. on a lunch break i was heading to a popular lil spot that a lot of Georgia State Patrol'ers and cops go to to eat. i at the time had green turn signals and clear corners on the car i was owning at the time. well apparently a cop spotted them when i was turning onto the road to the restaraunt and followed with lights flashing and i didn't recognize till i pulled into the parking lot and parked. he parked right behind me and came up to me as i was getting outta the car. real real nice guy tho cuz he just told me he spotted them..that it's not legal to have those kind of aftermarket parts in the sate of Georgia and that if i was pulled over by a state trooper that i'd be getting a $75 ticket, but since i was cooperative (minus the never seeing him behind me) he just gave me a warning. we than went inside cuz he apparently was heading to the same spot and sat and ate lunch and just talked bout BS. top it..the owners of the rest. which i'm good friends with came out and gave me a good pick'n on.
