I was going down the highway today at 70 mph, and i noticed my car was cruising at about 3500 rpm, and i thought that was a little high. Two of my friends have 5 speed manual tranny's in their cars and the rpms arent that high in their cars. Is it just something with the tranny, or could something be wrong that would need fixing?

IIRC, 3500 sounds about right. BTW, what part of Wisconsin?

At 75 I am usualy doing about 3200 RPM on a level grade in both my cars (which seems high) In my previous vehicles it was around 2800 RPM.

You must have small diameter tires.
70mph is ~2900rpm in my car.
Using a 25" tire 70mph is 2941rpm in a V6 MTX-75 (4.06 FD)

Dangit, I knew I was off. 80, not 70, is ~3500 rpms. Thanks for the excuse to go have some fun on the Interstate

That sounds about right, I have my stocker SE rims on now and I am around the 3k mark or higher at 70-80mph.

Ok, i know my car isnt too weird now. My tires are P205/60R15, they are supposed to be the size the car came with from the factory. Oh, and i live by Great Lakes Dragaway, i can almost see it from my house!

yeah, its kind of a natorious thing for slightly older fords, my zetec Contour revs kind of high on the freeway, my brother's 94 Probe GT reved kind of high on the freeway, anywhere between 2400-3200 depending on his speed. Mine I cant really tell you the RPM cause I dont have a tach
