O.K., WorldTour, you caught me!! How did you know that I never even drove one? I'll freely plead guilty to that. But, what's the point? If I just can't "wrap my mind around" the styling, I may derive pleasure from driving it, but I still have to look at it from my front steps to the driveway, and who wants to be "neurotically torn" between the love of driving a car and the inability to appreciate the way it looks? How would I feel when its time to wash and wax it?
I'll even admit that my son drove one and LOVED it, but I still have a certain image burned in my mind:
When my son backed that red Cobra back onto the dealer's lot, (parking and fog lites on, setting sun glinting off of her rakish body) I felt a sense of intolerable loss. I even managed to tune out the look of the fake (oops! non-functional) side scoops.
I also love the look of the Contour, be it SVT or SE, side skirts and wing or not, heck, I even give the little old ladies driving the Zetec GL's the "thumbs up" as I cruise by (whereupon they immediately report me for stalking). In fact, the only negative styling criticism I have for the Contour is that the roof could be "chopped" a couple of inches to give it a more aggressive look ('course then you'd sacrifice forward vision and headroom, so its a good trade-off.) Now that gas is @ $2/gal, I'll enjoy the 21MPG too.
But, what else would you expect to hear from someone who bought FOUR SE's in five months? And that's why I'm posting on this site and not another. I'm also (very probably) the OLDEST CEG'r as well.
