for those who own a detachable face plate. does it get frustrating having to take it on and off when getting in and outta the car? :\ does anyone a certain hiding spot for it? just a curiousity question. kinda wanting to make a hiding spot where i can grab it whenever within reach from the driver seat.

Glovebox
If someone breaks into your car and the face is off, they generally assume you took it with you.
If they are serious about stealing your stuff and have already gone to the trouble to smash a window or go through your door locks under the seat, in the pocket on the back of seat will not save you.

I never take mine off, I just detach it and let it stay there. The only times I take it off is if I'm gonna park in a public place and leave it there damn near all day. Than I put it in my glovebox.

Anyone ever consider the pockets on the doors? This first place a thief is going to look will be the glove box. Besides, it's quicker to stash it in the door. Most people forget that there are even pockets on the doors, let alone someone in a rush to steal a CD player.

I usually leave mine right on the dash. Ya know, hide it in plain sight.

Mine came with a black plastic case. I pop it in there and set it underneath the passengers seat, if I do even take it off. I never park in a place where people wouldn't notice some guy trying to get into my car.

Ditto, exactly for me. I only have started taking it off at school recently because of a rash of break-ins. My friend's blazer was broken into and they took a bunch of stuff but did not look in the glove compartment, they didn't even look close to it as he has a big computer monitor attached to the dash and had his jacket over it and they didn't see it. Though they took his face plate, phone, 15" audiobahn sub, 2000watt amp, $4 dollars, and 2 DVDs.

When my car was broken into, I had to face on, but they still went through everything such as pockets in the doors, under seat, glove box, center console, pocket behind seat, and they even started to lift up my back seat. (I know they went through all of those places because the junk that was in there was all thrown out all over.) Now I just take my face inside the apartment w/ me. I feel safer when I know where it is.
I can't wait til college is over for the year and I get to move back home into the garage (for the car that is)
