Hope this works. I have been dying to post a pic of my amps and subs. The amps are pre-Xplode Sonys. The subs are JL 8W3's firing though the rear deck.

looks good. was it hard to cut out the holes for the subs to rest in? just asking because i am going to have to cut out to 4.5in holes in the back for when i install my system to allow for air to flow from the trunk into the car itself so it wont put to much stress on the rear of the car and trunk. again, that does look good, bet it sounds nice too.

Thats really cool. I've been thinking about doing the same thing. How does the bass sound? I listen to alot of Korn and manson and prodigy. Do you think your setup would be good for these bands? eek

I listen to alot of different music and this system really rocks. I don't listen much to bass tracks, but it plays those surprisingly well for 8's. I have 4 6x9 Kappas in the doors so I already have fairly good bass response, but the subs really fill in the bottom. I would be very careful selecting subs as I tried Infinity Kappas (pre-Perfects) and listened to Kicker Solos before the JL's. Not many subs will go into a small enough box to fit easily on the left side. My boxes are only about .27 cu ft.

The metal on the package shelf is fairly thin, I cut it with a jig saw.

I would be careful with your plan to cut holes to let air in. With 4.5" holes you won't realize a big difference in SPL. You will, however, be making a quasi-bandpass enclosure out of your trunk that could mess up your freq resp. Of course, if you aren't planning to compete, it probably wouldn't matter too much.

DNEWMA04, do you think it would be best just to leave it alone, i eventually want to compete in competitions. would it even make a difference in the way it sounds. thanks for the help.

I would leave it alone to begin with. If you aren't happy with the sound, you could always add the ports later. I doubt there would be a huge difference either way. As an expensive and difficult option, you could always remove the rear deck completely and fabricate a new one... smile

One thing to consider, if you decide to go with a bandpass enclosure for your subs, you could always custom build it so that the port goes directly into the cabin via the 4.5" holes you mentioned. That way, all of the bass energy would be routed directly into the cabin, rather than being absorbed by the rear seats/trunk.
