I'm trying to decide between an infinite baffle setup with an Dayton IB-15 or sealed with e12Kx. They are both in the same price range, probably with the infinite baffle setup being cheaper cause of less power needed. I just wanted some input on which would work better and why.

I would go with the ED unless you are willing to spend a lot of effort on the seal between the cabin and the trunk. If you are willing to do that work, I would absolutely go with the IB. If nothing else, it is different and performance can be as good as anything.
The Dayton IB is used by a former CEGer in his house. Actually, Roof of Boom uses two of them and a 1000w amp. The entire house rattles.

thats awesome. I've tried to find some pictures or good explanation on setting this up but have came up empty. What are people doing to get a good seal? I mean obviously the wood has to be cut exact. I think my dad will have to help me on this one. He's the kind who plans everything and gets it done exactly right. Takes him forever, but its done good. I jump in, mess up three times, then get it done.
If anyone has this setup, chime in. Thanks dnewma, dave right?

I've been toying with this project. I'm thinking of using a pair of IB12's or a single Lanzar Opti 12" in an infinite baffle configuration. I haven't found any good examples with pics for ideas yet. Not quite sure yet. I really like my Lambda PB12-LE except its very heavy enclosure. I might just build a smaller/lighter enclosure and buy a BAT kit to get rid of my car's saggy a$$.

Let me ask a couple of questions.
What kind of contour/mystique do you own? and does it have fold down rear seats?
I can tell you my plan with my car (1966 Chevy biscayne) to give you some ideas, but my car has some advantages based on the design.
The first thing I will be doing is cutting/installing the baffle board. Since I will be using Dayton IB12s (3 or 4 of them), and they have less than 3/4 of an inch of excursion, I will probably be using 3/4" material and mounting the woofers behind the baffle. I would fit into place and drill the holes necessary to bolt up to the bracing behind the rear seat. Then remove it, add some bracing (just like i would to a sealed/ported enclosure) and pre-drill the mounting holes for the subs. Depending on how permanent i want this baffle to be mounted, I would then either glass the perimeter to the body of the car, or just use some expanding foam around the perimeter and put a layer of dynamat around the perimeter and possibly covering the baffle. Then add the subs and finish material.
Then I would be adding some bracing to the rear deck and dropping a layer or two of sound deadening sheets. The bracing is to stiffen up the flat pieces of sheetmetal and the sound deadener will add mass to decrease the resonant freq.
The next step in my case is to add a couple layers of deadener to the rest of the truck and apply a finish.

Thanks, I have a 95 se, fold down seats. I just have one question, this is just going to be flat up against the back seat? would it have to be down for it to work effectively?

In mine, it will be firing right into the rear seat, but i have open backed bench seats with plenty of air to be able to move. In your case, you would probably want to remove the metal backing in the seats. Like I said, it isn't a simple install by any stretch.
There is another option where you open up the rear deck and put a 5 sided box with teh open side open to the cabin through the rear deck. But that requires making a grille in the rear deck and still has a box. It also requires the seats to be up to work effectively.

yeah, I saw someone do that, but i thought maybe the rear deak hole would bottle neck the flow, kinda like a reverse ported. How much air space do you think would be necessary? I could back it up a little, but obviously i dont want to take up all my trunk space. Also so you think If i enlarged the rear deck to 8 inches, i t would be enough for a 15 inch to fire through at the opposite side fo a box?
