with all those miles i would say replacing all those old internals and maybe droppin' some new stuff in there too like a flywheel and maybe a diff. if you race at the track or will be modding.

You might find independent shops doing it for cheaper, but the 10hrs labor and $3-400 parts cost (for a clutch kit) are close enough to the truth.

Just find a good shop as said and they'll do it for less.
Ford's quote is always $1100 for a clutch job. Plus I never like the work any dealer has ever done. So I do it myself, or use a speed shop if I can't.

After looking in the labour book...I did the job myself. $400 bucks for a performance clutch. Took between 6-7 hours to do. I don't know where they get 10 from!

6-7 hours? You must be awesome - it took me probably 10 days of work at like 2 hours per day. Do you have a lift and power tools and a torch?
IIRC it took me 2-3 hours just to get my shift rod disconnected, spent another 1-2 hours on a rounded tranny bolt, another hour on a tie rod end bolt that froze up. Then with 3 of us it was like 1 hour just to get the tranny back up and in, and them maybe another hour to put the subframe back up by myself...

Errr we must be awesome! My dad helped me change the clutch. No bolts were seized, rounded and a torch was not needed. Yes we did have power tools and a hoist to work with. From what I remember, we had the shafts out within an hour. The only [censored] was one of the subframe bolts started turning with the nut...so we had to fight a little bit with that.
