It all started when I started hearing a popping noise from the front drivers side wheel of my '99. So I put the car on the lift and started checking things out. Turned the wheel left and right, nothing. Rotated it, and I hear a popping/snapping sound coming from the transmission casing. That's when I noticed the passenger's side wheel also rotating when I rotated the driver's side wheel. This was definitely a nice pleasant surprise.
The noise I originally heard, btw, ended up being the lower control arm on the driver's side.
My question is this.
Is it normal for that popping/snapping noise to come from the casing with a LSD installed? It does it every time I switch directions quickly from forward to backward, and from what I can tell it only does it while its in the air on the lift. I've never dealt with a LSD before so I'm not sure what is and isn't normal, any help would be appreciated. I just want to know if I need to look into it.
