got a 99 zx2 in today and it had a slight stumble at moderate throttle. since it had 61k, decided to change the original plugs. sure nuff, it had bad ol bosch platnums. got a new set of autolites and now it pulls like a freight. do not fall for the ads for these plugs. they are such crap.

Really never had a prob with mine. Other people on the board have though, I think it's real hit and miss. Probably won't get them again thought, don't want my usual bad luck on the next set.

Those plugs actually work great in other cars with "normal" ignition systems. The Zetec has two coils and the Duratec has three. The opposite plug gets chewed up fast with single platinum plugs (+4's, etc). That's why we have a NEED for double platinum plugs, like the Autolite APPxxx. APP764 for V6, APP5344 for Zetec.

So, basically, you performed a tune-up at the prescribed interval, and the car ran better?

i tune up all the cars i put on my car lot. i was just pointing out that someone had already done a tune up with bosch plats and the car still ran like poop. i am sure they thought they were doing the car a favor by using the platnum plugs like the car savvy parts counter guy told them to. just pointing out that when i get a car in that runs poorly under a light throttle load, it usually has a new set of bosch plugs.

I've been installing plugs since the late 60s and tried most of them. The Bosch are one of the best I've used. On Turbocharged engines, they were one of few that weren't eaten alive. Jap plugs have long life/good performance. Motorcraft/Autolite do well too. I used to love Champions (back in the pre-emissions days) but all I install them in now are one lungers. I've been running +4s since they came out with no problems. I don't believe they are too much better than the factory fill. They do look cool though! :p

My +4's SEEM to be fine...installed them at 65K with no noticable change in performance over the originals - Hmmmm, perhaps that says enough about the Bosch +4...NO IMPROVEMENT!
