Sorry in advance, a search didn't find an easy answer for me.

Need to replace the original tires on my 99 SVT (after 40,000km). Can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced replacement?

And, is it OK just to replace the front since my rear tires still have plenty of tread.

Thanks!!

yes you can replace just the fronts if the rears are fine. here in so cal i needed inexpensive tires to get me through this year so i went to just tire. i got 4 225/50/16 with a v rating andeverything including lifetime warrenty for 402.32.

From my experience... stay away from the Firehawk GTA-02's. Performance was crappy and they didn't last long.

I'd recommend these Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's. They handle pretty well and for $78 a pop you can't beat 'em. I love mine.

Move your rear tires to the front. And put your new tires on the rear!

Many options in the 225/50/16 size but few in the 215/50/16.

Maybe the new Fuzion tire?

my favorite tire in 225/50-16 ( not sure if still made ) was the bridgestone potenza re730s...great dry and wet traction w/ no road noise and lasted 30k miles w/ one full day on sebring road course and about 6 autoxs....I am actually going w/ the same tire on my new 18s..Bridgestone Potenza Re750 225/40-18

Let me second it on the Kumhos. Did some research on new tires for myself recently, and got nothing but good comments about them.

I have Dayton Daytona ZR tires on my SVT, size 225/50R16. They are the best tire I have had on the car. Much better tire than BF Goodrich KDWS, Continental 4000H, and the original Goodyear Eagle GS-C.

Dayton is a Bridgestone brand, and is very similar to the Bridgestone RE750 as well as the discontinued RE730.

Here is a link to Bridgestone/Firestone/Dayton where you can study the Dayton Daytona ZR as well as other Bridgestone/Firestone tires.
