My car has had a bad idle for awhile (new tach gives it around 550 RPM when in Drive) and shaky. Awhile ago, the car actually died at a stop light, it started right up, and it did it just the other day, its not becoming a concern for me, anyone ever have these problems? What should I do to fix it?

Pretty vauge description of your problem, but I had something very similar happen to me, turns out it was a bad fuel pump. Ever replace your's?

it could be the pump, because i had a friend who had that problem, or it might be a line problem

Pump sounds good... cus car works GREAT when the engine is cold, its just after the engine builds up heat...

I had the same symptoms.
Check your IAC - Idle Air Controller.
Either clean it or replace it.

I have had the same problem on my 95 2.0 liter auto trans for a couple of years. I asked for help on this forum and received some good suggestions. While gaining access to inspect the pcv/egr system I noticed that the electrical connector to the intake air temp. sensor had exposed wires. The insulation had cracked on both wires at the connector. I separated the wires and reinsulated them and now the car idles at 1000 rpm no load/750 rpm in drive with the brake on. Hope this helps. From what I have read so far, most anything can cause idle problems on this vehicle; vacuum leaks, cracked exhaust manifold, clogged egr valve, bad sensors, idle air control valve, etc, etc.

Your problem could be electical...dimming lights could mean not enough voltage to computer, which would cause it to stall. You might want to check your charging and elec system
