Will a 2001 cougar trans fit in a 97 svt contour
its a 1S8R-DA.....mods?....
the build date is 97 not model year...

Iam confused, there is no 97 svt-c. But if you ment a 98 svt-c, then yes, I hope it will work, cause I am doing the same thing.

well thanks and yes it a 98 but it was made in 97
so i didn't know if there was a build date problem ...doo to the cable / shaft style shifter, didnt know what year they changed .....thank for the info

now I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong. If you have an SVT-c, it is cable. I dont really know when they changed.

well thanks i got one today 565..with shipping has 11000
on it....sorry, I will use the model year in here....
I have worked at dealers to long .
Got the trans off of car-parts.com thanks to others in here

Yes it will work.

That is the way to do it too since it (2001 Cougar MTX) is a "revised" MTX-75.

All SVT's had the cable shifter.


2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
