My girlfriends birthday is coming up shortly and I thought it would be nice to get her an inexpensive Home Theater system for her new apartment. She is not so concerning with hi-fi and superb sound quality but we know I am. Dont shoot me but I would like to get her a 5.1 system that includes a DVD/CD player. And the challenge part, keep it around $250-300. So throw me some ideas and your input is always welcome.

Just a few ideas.
Granted you don't need to buy from them, but I have bought from
them in the past, they are good to deal with.

try ebay.com and buy-it-now/ebay stores
There's a specific category:
Home > All Categories > Consumer Electronics > Home Theater in a Box > With DVD Player

Sony, Panasonic, Bose, Pioneer and RCA all seem to have systems.

Take a look at amazon/epinions and the like to get user impressions

You should be able to get a pretty good deal in that price range

eTronics is great. I get a lot of my car audio stuff from them and have nothing but good things to say.
