I had this is General mods but I think I can get more replies here. I installed my B&M short shifter and I can't get it to go into reverse. And it has nothing to do with the reverse lock out. It seems like a pretty easy install and I can't see what could go wrong but I did something. All the other gears are fine but it just seems like it hits a wall for reverse. I reinstalled the stock shifter and it goes into reverse fine but not with the B&M. Any ideas??

Thank you

sounds like you fugged up.

ok just kidding.
did you use the centering spring?
if so, are you sure you installed it right when you put the B&M in?
maybe you installed it with the B&M the wrong way, and when you put the stoker back in you put the spring on right.
maybe it was binding somehow with the B&M.

does it go into 2nd and 4th easily?
i know when i put the B&M in my car it hit the piece that bolts down ontop of the shifter ball.
i had to grind out part of it so the shifter would go back all the way to get 2nd, 4th, and reverse.

i had the same problem when i put my B&M in. I think the prob is that the sleeve that you have to pull up on to go in reverse doesnt clear the small block on the shifter base bottom right corner. I eventually just removed the small block on the shifter base and everthing works perfectly. I would recommend taking out that block.

Maybe try adjusting your shift linkage.

I bet ur problem is that u just dont think its a prob with the lockout sleeve because you are pulling it up all the way but it still doesnt go into reverse. I had the same prob, just get rid of that little block.

No i was trying to put it into reverse without the reverse lockout even on. Without the boot on or anything.

But I did find out what it was. It was the plate that goes over the ball. The one with four screws on it. Yeah I didn't screw it down all the way and the whole assembly was coming up to far not allowing it to move far enough over to go into reverse or barley fifth. So I screwed it down and everything works perfect.

Thank you for your replies.
