Okay, for my Sony CDX-M650 install, I bought a premium sound wiring kit from Walmart (brand name was Sschoske or something like that). It comes with three harnesses. The long skinny one plugs into the power and accessories plug so I can wire it to the new HU, and one of the rectangular ones wires to the speaker outputs from the new HU and plugs into the factory speaker wiring, taking the signal to the amp. This is where I get confused... I still haven't bypassed the amp at this point and only have one plug left. How am I supposed to bypass the amp without cutting wires? Also, can I unscrew the amp to work on it easier? I know I could figure this one out on my own, but it's 12:30 and kind of dark outside right now...

I know we've had threads on this topic dozens of times before, but thanks for the help everybody.

The 3rd plug should have a connector on each end. You need to unplug the input of the factory amp, plug one end of the aftermarket harness into the input plug you just disconnected from the amp and plug the output from the factory amp into the other end of your aftermarket harness. All should work fine from there.

Thanks for the reply, KnuKonceptz. I guess I've obviously got the wrong kit, then, because my third connector only has a plug on one end... I'm halfway through cutting and splicing right now (I got impatient ), so I guess I'll just get my 10 bucks back from WalMart. One other question, I've been looking at the wiring diagram for the ford factory system and can't seem to find where I'm supposed to connect the antenna lead from the stereo to. any ideas?
