Greetings,

Am I supposed to be able to rotate the front wheels with the front end jacked up and the transmission in Park?

I've been trying to find the source of a rumble during cruising that worsens when the steering wheel is turned the slightest to the left. I had jacked the car up to check the bearings and found that I was able to rotate the front wheels freely!

Thanks for your help. I really enjoy this board.

the tranny has an open differential

notice that when you spin one wheel that the other spins in the opposite direction!

Park only holds the ring gear, and thus the diff case that's attached to it, from turning. But even if the diff case is held can differentiate. So, yeah, if one wheel goes forward and the other backward, that's normal. If they both still turn in the same direction, that's another issue...
