I'm looking into purchasing a franchise and wanted to know if anyone here own's a food related franchise? If you do, which one do you own, what do you like and dislike about it and would you do it again?

Any advise you can give before I go ahead with this will be greatly apprciated.

Thanks for your time!

I'm going for a Subway and trying to get into a power center location, but I'm curious if anyone has done a similar venture and can give me some advise. Things that they might have done differently. What to look out for as well as positive points that they feel were done right.

thanks!

I worked for a Food Franchise (White Hen Pantry)
Ill give you some advice.
-Location is important, the White Hen I worked at had a semi-bad location, its up for franchise for the 3rd time in the past few years...
-Knowing what you are doing is also important, if your new to Franchising, you better do alot of research in it.
-If buying a franchise with people already working there, see how good they are, when you buy a franchise, many regular customers leave because the people who kissed ass for em are gone.
Then again, White hen was more of convience store, but we still had a Deli! All I know is im still pissed that I lost my job there, was easy to work there, compared to telemarketing

Hey Alex given the trend in the GTA I'd say go for a Quizno's. If I had an interest in getting back into the food industry this is how I would go.

Hey Mark what did you do when you were in the food industry and with what company?

Looked into Quiznos but they are more expensive and have lower resale then Subway, if or when you decide to sell it. Plus Subway is going to start having the option to toast their bread soon. They will have a similar toaster oven system to Quiznos I think it starts in August.

My mom owns a Long John Silver's in NC that I MIGHT be taking over this summer. I went down there to visit breifly and the few things I noticed:

1. Try to get trustworthy help. IF you can, find good friends that might be interested in helping you.
2. Manage inventory efficiently from day one - will save you tons of headache.
3. Try to use/setup a register system that's easy for EVERYONE, not just yourself.
4. Watch your money carefully!

I'm new to it too but it's something different. Hopefully it works out pretty well.

If you want a sub shop...how 'bout a Jimmy Johns?

Subways are a dime a dozen...

I don't know much about your area, but around here I wouldn't be opening a sub shop because there are so damn many of them... go with something with less competition, like a BW3s or something.
