I have an SVT Contour, and I was wondering why the revs fall so slowly in between first and second gear. This is especially noticeable during a moderately hard acceleration.

No, it idles at 750rpm. The IAC was replaced under warranty when the car wouldn't idle or start without having your foot on the accelerator.

The 'Throttle Hang' fix will solve your problem. It will cost you a whopping $0.30 or so and will not hurt your car at all. Give it a shot. I may have a spare if you would like me to send one to you.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Thanks for the help and for the greeting, but will the throttle hang fix void my remaining warranty? Also, how much power is lost at mid-range RPM, will my car still pass California emissions? What hole size has worked best for everyone with this mod? What "side-effects" are there of this mod? Thanks again.

Can't say for sure, but I'd expect NO. It has nothing to do with the engine except to limit the idle air flow - which is metered air anyway.

None that I have been able to detect, but a few have 'noticed' a minimal loss of top end. I think it's only a perception & not a real loss.

Yes

Check the FAQ & the How-To. If you have an SVT start with the smallest hole. You can always make it a little bigger.

None. There was only the few that mensioned a perceived loss of power at the top end, but again I think it is not a real power loss, just a 'feeling'. BMW owners have been using this little trick since the early 80s without any known side effects. And Yes, I own an 86 BMW 325e with the fix.
