I've got a 1998 Ford F150 that runs perfectly, except the passenger window wont roll down. All the other power options including the driver's side window work. I took the door panel off and made sure that all the wiring harnesses were connected properly and tightly, and it makes a faint clicking noise when your press for the window to go down, but no movement at all. Any suggestions? And there's insulation underneath the door panel and I dont think it will go back on if I take it off, so I haven't tested the window's motor. I'm hoping it wont come to that. Thanks in advance for any help. -Spencer

I would actually say it does sound like the motor has gone south.

Thanks... I hope it's not the motor, but I have a sinking feeling that it is. Any other suggestions, anyone?

sounds like you have what my 96 contour had: a new window regulator(comes with motor and other parts that hold the cable to let the window go up and down).. on mine the cable came out of the pastic casing (kinda bow shaped) and let the cable fray and the cable got caught and then window did not go up or down.. just did the same thing as you described.. i had to get the Haynes Manual at auto zone for my contour to tell me how to take the door apart to get to the window regulator(cost of regulator was about $120.)..
without the book i could never have guessed how to get to it.. and i have been working on cars for about 35 yrs....

Thanks a lot dbird! Like I said, I was hoping it couldn't come to taking off that insulation, but it's worth it for the window to roll down. Thanks again for sharing the experience and advice! I knew it couldn't be something cheap to fix, it never is! -Spencer
