My CEL light has been going on and off for a while. Since inspection is coming up soon, and the weather is warmer, I decided to fix the problem. I get an error code 522, 112 and 172. 522 is the shift selector lever for an auto tranny. I have a 5 spd. Why does this code appear on a 5 spd? Does it mean something else. 172 is the oxegens senosrs, with 130K miles, I guess it is time. 112 is air temp sensor. Ditto for that. Any words of widsom on changing these items?

The 522 code on an MTX indicates that the computer thinks the clutch pedal was depressed during the test.

If it was not depressed during your test, start with the switch on the upper arm of the clutch pedal. It has two different circuits. One is the starter interlock, the other is used to signal the computer that the driver has depressed the pedal. This is used for, among other things, cruise disengagement and dashpot control.

Maybe that is why the cruise control doesn't work. Hasn't worked in years though. I think the 172 is the sensor on the rear exhaust manifold, I'll start with that one. These are a little pricey to shotgun it.
