I have not tested that limit as I live in Florida & I don't know anywhere that I can get sufficient altitude from which to drop my car...
NO WAY 178 my a$$ NO WAY NO way 178.....drugs are bad . not going to happen no stock atx will do that....not even with the computer tweaked going down hill with a tail wind you never hit 178. I have a zx-11 and 176 is all that she'll make so B.S.

its a tad faster than my mystique duratec, but a little slower than my prelude vtec they move pretty nicely for a ford sedan, but you just gotta free up the breathing before you feel anything real impressive for a 2.5.

145mph if you lower the power antenna by turning the radio off.

Are you taking about a CSVT?? A CSVT is more than a tad faster than a mystique duratec. The SVT has 30 more horsepower. I have a 2000 CSVT(stock) and from my experience it is a tad faster than a vtec prelude(stock). The performance numbers in literature are almost identical. It comes down to the driver.

0-60 it's not that much faster look at the torque numbers.

More than a tad (more than 0.3 sec). Same torque but more horsepower. No question torque is important but horsepower does count.

Well....
I don't have 1/4 mile or 0-60 times from my personal experience, but I can tell you that the car will go over 135mph on the speedo. Haven't topped it out yet.
Oh, and on the track of course.
I also have a Taurus SHO ('92), that's I've owned for like 6 years. Up to 90mph I'd say Advantage SHO, but over 90 it feels like the SVT pulls harder.

(Yes, I know there are big differences between the two cars; just a guess. )
Speed I believe is drag limited at 144, but I chicken out before 120.

No, it's because Ford's numbers are done with 200-300 pounds of ballast to simulate a passenger, and then it's still conservative.

Hey thanks for all your info guys. Ancientsanskrit, I was at Circuit City recently to have a new radio put in at the beginning of the month. Do you work there? I briefly remember seeing it there. Did you chat with me because I'm having some vague recall.
