Sorry, just a little excited... just back from class to find a Sony CDX-M650 HU sitting in the living room courtesy of www.thezeb.com... anyway, I'm not going to have a chance to install it until next weekend but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips/advice, i.e. how much time should I budget for the install, etc... all I need is the HU and an amp bypass kit from Best Buy, right? Anyway, just had to share my excitement with you all...

LET THE SYSTEM BUILDING BEGIN!!!
(one step at a time, right? )

Congrats!

I have the 7050X xplod and really like it (I like yours a lot better).

The install should take about 1 hour. Make sure you have the DIN tools to take out your factory HU. Take the wiring harness from the Sony and the wiring harness from wherever you are getting it from and sit down at a table to make your connections. It is a lot less frustrating than trying to do it in the car.

nice choice I have the same. worth the $300 I paid for it. Yeah all you need is the wiring harness from best buy..make sure you get the right one (since Im assuming you have premium sound) if you know exactly what to do budget about hour to an hour 1/2..or if your like me and didnt know what you were doing you'll spend about 2 - 4 hours =)

Read this as well. Seems to be very common problem to those who install the newer Sony HU's. It is a nice heads up! Make sure you have plenty of butt connectors as well as a good set of wire strippers/crimpers. Don't do it ghetto and use electrical tape or duct tape! Budget about 1.5 hours. Good luck with the install......

Make sure if you dont bypass the amp right away that you hook up the amp turn on lead, trust me i kicked myself for 3 days because i had no sound, oops...

When you slide that metal tray thing you will prob. need to file the corners a little bit of the hole, otherise it's very easy, use some soder if you can, helps
