I think my SE wheels are getting that way, but I haven't put alot of effort into cleaning them yet.

I got the same kinds of brake dust stains on my stock 15" wheels when I didn't clean them often enough.

Try using some tar/road crap remover from the auto store, or find something household that won't eat through the clear coat.

Are you using wheel cleaner? I know on my brothers Z34 he had the same problem. I little bit of Meguiars wheel cleaner, and some elbow grease, and he was amazed!!! They shine so good.

Have you tried Meguiars Hot Wheels (I think that's the name, it comes in a pink bottle). Works really good. I detailed a Jeep Cherokee last year with rims that were suppose to be chrome, the Meguiars removed the major brake dust build up with just a couple of applications and a rag. Wheels were shinier than new

I agree. My wheels looked like that when I bought the car. I swear the previous owner used acid or something to clean them Thats why I painted them.
