So the transission shop said to go ahead and replace the coolant sensor because this was one of two codes the transmssion was giving out. The other one was the gear selector sensor that was already replaced. I also replaced the VSS on this transmission as well. I find it hard to believe the coolant sensor is causing such a bad 3rd to 4th slip, but it's cheap so I purchased the sensor. My question gentlemen- Where is this sensor located? I ran the car up on the curb and crawled under it, and couldn't see it just by looking around. Is it something I can do myself? It's a '98 with the V6-ATX!! What a piece of CR** that CD4E IS!!
THANKS FOR EVERYONE"S HELP!!

Here yah go!
It's a b**ch to get at. You have to remove air box, throtle control...etc
Also if your fast you don't need to drain antifreeze, but you will have to top it up.

Gee! Thanks for the fast response, I just printed the picture. This is the sensor that transmits info to the computer, RIGHT?

Yes.
The other one to the front left on the same part is for the temp gauge.

Well,
It looks like this is a repair beyond my realm of possibility. How many hours is this-to install and put back together? I know there is the time that the "manual" says, but what is it actually?
