I searched but did not find what i was looking for... Here goes.
What temp are most of you 3.0L guys running. I seem to be running at 215-220 and I feel a little anxiety about it. I am in PHX and it is blazing hot here in the summer. It is only getting to about 90 currently. I have the 180 T-Stat currently but I want to run the 160. What is the part number? Do 3.0L's typically run hotter than their 2.5L counterparts? I am using an Autometer Phantom Gauge and I am not sure how accurate it is. I am going to plug into an OBDII scanner and monitor it from the brain, then I will have an idea of its accuracy.

What are the fan temps set at?

My engine runs in the 170's during spirited driving.

160 T-stat.

Fans at 186 & 196 but even the primary one rarely comes on. Secondary one never does.

Temps have been in the 60's & 70's so it's not hot yet.

So what are you doing that keeps the temps down so low? I flushed my radiator added water wetter and i had a obd laptop scanner tell me my temp was right at 200.

I'm running Zerex Extreme (OAT) 40% and water 60%.
Yes some water wetter.

If you are runing the stock T-stat it does not fully open until ~192-194.

It is rated to start opening at 188. (Also it's the same one most aftermarket companies sell as a 180 t-stat )

with my 160 stat, regular antifreeze and watter wetter I run at 170ish most of the time like Demon. With stock stat I always hit 200 as well.

Runs a bit to the left of N on the gauge now. Since I have stock fan programming as soon as I stop moving, hit stop and go or am really on it alot it goes right to the old temp, but for the 75% of the time I'm just cruising it stays nice and cool.

thanks demon

I got some part numbers from Autozone. They don't carry Stant T-Stats. The FailSafe number is 7200-160. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Last time I checked AutoZone did not carry any thermostats for the Duratec.

Stant does not list anything but the reboxed OEM t-stat (mislabeled as a 180) when looking it up by application. DON'T look it up by application.

If you want a cooler thermostat (160 rating) run the known good stant number I figured out a while ago.

DO NOT even bother with trying a 180 t-stat. The change from stock at full open is maybe a couple degrees and that's once you actually find a manufacturer that makes a 180 and does not sell a reboxed OEM as a 180.

Also like Scott said. Without the fans changed you are at the mercy of your cooling system and fluid type & mix when "moving" slowly.

The more efficient that is (SVT radiator, OAT coolant, higher water %, water wetter type product, etc) the cooler everything runs under all conditions.

The Failsafe is supposedly a 160 T-stat... Hmmm. I will track down the Stant.
*Edit*
Checker is telling me that they no longer have the ability to get that part number. Where else can I get one?
