I installed an amp and sub this weekend. To get the RCA plugs to the back of the HU, I removed it from the sleeve and went about the wiring. When I got the system wired, ground and the battery connected, the CD player wouldn't work.
I have a Sony Xplod 7050X. The stereo works fine but my source selector will not change over to the CD function. Here is the kicker, I had a CD in there when I disconnected it and it won't even eject it. I tried the reset button on the HU and disconnected (and reconnected after about 10 minutes) the power from both the battery and the wiring harness at the back of the HU and it still won't work. I don't think the mechanism that recognizes the CD in the slot is working.
Crutchfiled is telling me to take it to the service center because it is still under warranty. I would like to see if anyone knows of a fix that will keep me from having to go to the service center and be without my HU for 5 or 6 days.
Any suggestions?

Well, I guess I have to rely on Sony to fix the problem. I am surprised that no one responded to this. I always held the audio forum gurus to a bit of a higher standard as everyone seems very knowledgable.

Hey Redhawk...
The audio forum gurus are pretty smart about just about anything... however...
There is a good chance that none of us (not that i'm a guru) have had any experience like this... if your sony HU is still under warranty, take it in and get it professionally fixed. I don't think anyone here would recommend taking your HU apart, causing potential disaster, just to save some time without your HU. If you still have your Ford HU, plug it in til the Sony comes back.
If you were out of warranty, who knows, maybe we'd have some better ideas.
By the way... you posted your message this morning... most people are at work, and lots of us don't have internet access when we're away from home. You might have had some more replies by later tonight.
Hope we can help you out.

Brian Actually, work is where I usually post from... But, I agree with Jazzman. If it's under warranty, take it back or find a local authorized Sony repair center. Otherwise, we'll help you out.

Gotta agree with Jazz and APT. This is not something that most of us are going to be able to diagnos. Probably too techie of a problem for us to solve.

Did you have the face plate up when you disconnected/reconnected the Unit. If so there should be a reset button on the front left side. You'll need a pen to get to it. When the unit is put back in, it will always reset and try to eject any CD that is in there. I have done this with my Sony too. If you leave the face plate up it cant eject the CD and then you will not be able to get it out. Try the reset button or reconnect it w/ the face off. You should get the CD to automaticlly come out and start working like it should. HTH

Never mind, I got it to work. I guess I didn't have to send it back to Sony after all...
