My low fuel light is not working, I bought the car used with this problem. Does anyone have input on this problem. Also, does the low fuel warning system include an audible warning...like a ping sound or something like that?

I believe some model years actually didn't have a low fuel warning light. My 98 Mystique has one, but I remember reading that some of the earlier models didn't. As far as an audible warning , I don't think any Contiques were equiped with that. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong....it happens sometimes.
Your best bet is probably just to keep it above 1/4 of a tank. That's better for your fuel system anyways, especially in cold weather.

I'm pretty sure you don't have a low fuel light. I know I don't. IIRC they didn't start adding them till 98. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here. Either way its an easy thing to live without though it would be nice if there was one for the GF's sake.

It was an option ( I think option) on early years as well, my 96 manual talks about the low fuel light, and what to do if it comes on. I dont know if my car has one, I dont go below 1/2 tank, got to keep that fuel pump in good shape.

Hmmm Didn't even think it was an option. I seem to recall this having been discussed many moons ago but I may be wrong on the verdict.

pre 98 didn't have low fuel lights

they had more colors on the dash, you have a white line then a red area on the fuel guage, when you hit the red you are in the "reserve" about 1 gallon I beleive

Concur. Someone drove my '96 so hard the needle was BELOW the red zone on the gas gauge. Almost couldn't get it started. Fortunately gas station was only 2 blocks away.
