The Steering wheel on my 98 Contour SE is all chipped and is losing it's paint. It's getting progressively worse and I have been looking into getting a leather wrap steering wheel cover -- not a slip on Leather steering wheel cover mind you, but an actual leather wrap that will be sewn onto the wheel (the stiching is done on the inside of the wheel). They are a little more expensive, but have more of a factory look to them. In any event, I purchased two different leather covers that claim to be "extra-wide" and neither fits properly. Although they each cover the wheel diameter-wise, neither of them stiches up very well b/c of the thickness of the steering wheel.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so, can you suggest a brand or type of cover that would do the trick?
Thanks!

how cheap is it to get a used steering wheel from a junkyard? Just wondering how cost effective that would be....

How did it turn out? Didn't give you any fitting issues? It sewed up without any open seams or anything? Thanks!
Sorry to hear about your fingers hurting like hell!
Thanks!

I thought the same thing, but haven't looked into it though. I just figured that it would arguably more labor intensive to remove my current steering wheel for a new one. Plus trying to chase down the proper color etc. would be a pain in the butt.

There would be the issue of connecting the airbag... Being the lazy ass I am I'd opt for the wheelskins. I've actually been contemplating getting one for a while now, how hard was it to install (other than the fingers hurting thing)?

Fitment was perfect. No gap in the seam at all.

JCwhitney sells them. My father put one on his SHO and it fit perfectly and is very professional looking.
