At least that's where it sounded like it's coming from.
I've noticed for the past few weeks on my 99, that occasionaly a pop would come from the front drivers side wheel (so I thought). Didn't matter if I was going straight or turning. Happens almost only when the car undergoes a sudden speed change or weight shift. Mostly when taking off. Put the car up on a lift to check it out, and if I grab the front drivers' side wheel and turn rotate it back and forth, each time it stops and switches rotation direction, I hear the pop, but it seems to be coming from inside the transmission casing. The noise occurs whether I am rotating the drivers' side wheel or the passengers' side wheel, though I don't really think that makes a difference.
The car is under warranty, and I've already set up an appointment, but would like to go in with an idea of what is wrong. I've taken cars to dealerships too many times only for them to not fix the problem at all, or do a quick temporary fix (ala greasing up the cracked sway bar bushings rather than replacing them). So I'd rather be able to take the keys to the service desk and say "Fix this" rather then let the dim-wits there search on their own.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
