I've seen several Pre rear decks on a Post Contours. The tails also fit. TheStripedSVT has a Mystique rear deck on his car along with the tails to match. From those two I would deduce that any year Mystique rear deck will fit any year Contour, and vice versa. Basicly they all mount, latch, and seal the same, so swapping should be no prob. Take a few pics of your rear deck and surrounding area, go to a local junk yard and look around for Contours and Mystiques and see what you think. Happy hunting.

I put what I think is a pre reflector on my 2000. I am just assuming it is pre though b/c I had to splice some of the wiring for the reverse and license plate lights.
It fits perfect though.

I put a 1997 reflector on my SVT. I was told by The Striped SVT that the only difference is that after a certain date in 97 they changed the reflector pattern, not in fitting, only in looks. Nothing major but you can tell side by side if you have the 2 different ones. Just make sure you get the tail lamps for the year of the reflector.

why bother getting the different reflector if you are just going to paint it? Doing it for the shape of the license surround?

All the mystiques have a chrome strip that runs along the bottom of the reflector and the tail lamps. So even if you do paint the reflector, you'll still have the chrome strip at the bottom of it. I guess you could paint that too if you removed the chrome from the strip but that's kind of a PIA. And if you popped off the chrome strip all together you would have an ugly gap.
So, to make it easier on yourself just get the tail lamps as well, if you go to a junkyard, see if they'll trade straight up. I blacked out the chrome strip on my stique with electrical tape, very easy and it has stuck well through rain and all for like 3 weeks so far.

actually i'm doing it to get rid of the chrome strip and the ford emblem at the top of the ford piece...i'm going to fill in the mercury emblem and then paint the whole thing thanks for the tips i'll probobly be shaving the chrome strip off of the bottom of the mystique reflector too, because my plan is to build a set of custom tails, they'll be somewhat like the hightower prototypes, but i have plans of my own.. i hope to blow some minds with my ideas(all handmade customs)
