On my 96 SE MTX, mileage-85K, the transaxle seal on the drivers side has started leaking. You can wipe the area clean with a rag and a fresh drip will appear in about 10 secs. I replaced this seal about 6K ago when I did the CV boots, it wasn't leaking but I figured I might as well replace it. I had a hard time removing it without a puller to attach to slap hammer. I don't want to do the job again. I called a trans. repair place locally and the man I talked to stated I might have excessive play the bearings in the final drive area. Or something to that effect, that is allowing the shaft to have too much play. He said replacing the seal might not be the cure. The trans. would have to be removed to fix properly. Does this sound right? Opinions please.

Maybe it started leaking because of the Redline MTL fluid I have in there now. Just bringing this post to the first page again.
