I just put 2 Pioneer 6x8 3 way speakers in the front door. They seem to be getting to much movement with bass and the center part of the speaker seems to hit the door grille. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

IIRC, the 3 way pioneers have the two mid-high range drivers in the center of the speaker and they shouldn't move. If anything's hitting the grille, it's the entire speaker, which would mean it's not installed correctly. I never had any problem with any of the Pioneers in my doors, I've got the 3ways in the front and 2 ways in the back. And too my knowledge, the driver for the mid-bass doesn't have enough excursion to get far enough to hit the grilles. Then again, what model year car do you have? Mine's a post '98, so there may be a difference in the way the door panel is made.

my car is a 98.5. I have 4 screws in the speaker. It's possible I was hearing distortion from the rear factroy speakers. If it makes a difference the new speakers are Pioneer TS-A6865.

I'm willing to bet this is more than likely the case, as the 98.5's have the same style interior as the 2000 (What I have). I have the 6865's in the front, the 6855's in the rear and I hear nothing but sweet music... =) Might want to see about investing in something a little more profound in the rear, or kill 'em all together. What kind of power are you running to them anyway?

To test the theory about it being the rear speakers, just fade to just the front speakers. This will answer your question instantly.

I'll try that on my way to classes today. I might need to change some of my setting for bass. I didn't get much of a chance to test them yesterday.

I forgot to turn down the bass from when I was trying to blow the factory speaker so I could have a reason to get new speakers. Thanks for the help
