Everything sounded just fine on my car until I had the CV joint replaced. (boot was leaking- but I replaced it before it had a chance to make any noise). The diver side inner and outer CV joints were replaced at the dealer. Now I notice a popping noise every now and then when I am turning at a low speed, particularly when I am turning and going over a bump. The other CV joint looks fine, Could the new CV Joint be bad or incorrectly installed? Do new CV joints pop a little until they are worked in?
Thanks

take it back. Shouldn't be popping. They may have installed a wrong size?? Not long enough shaft I believe....but I'm no expert. But it should not be making any popping sound, which indicates a bad CV joint in the first place....

Good luck

That doesn't sound like a cv joint. Sounds more like suspension. In order to service the halfshafts, the steering knuckle needs to be removed. Perhaps the lower ball joint isn't lined up correctly, or tie-rod end, or your struts were torqued too much. All of that stuff needs to be loosend to take the knuckle off. My advice, suspend the front end, take both wheels off, and see if you can jiggle any of those parts. If so, bingo. If not, the spindles on the shafts aren't seated right or have bad retainers. Good luck and hope it works out!
