I had a nice reply all written out here, but I started looking more into your engine set-up and when I came back... everything was gone! Bummer! And I was hoping to bore everyone with another long usless post of my ponderings.

Short and sweat version...

Why do you think the fuel filter would cause the problems that your see? Seems as though everything is decent up until 5000 RPMs. From there is seems that whatever problem your having, becomes very noticable.

I was thinking that it might be the coil pack being weak.

Sorry for bugging on the questions. Just trying to learn what I can here and it seems like I have a some what similar issue with mine, although you have managed to obtain a fair improvment in your air/fuel ratio on the second set of graphs. What changes were made to obtain that?

The car had an air leak that was addressed. That seemed to have helped the A/F.
The fuel filters on these cars are a known weak spot as they tend to get clogged up pretty good and seeing as how it's the original with 122k miles sounds like it might be worth looking at.
My friend has a multi meter and when I get a chance (I don't know where it is right now) I'm going to test the coil pack.
Cain, I tried getting that new 2F2F fuel pump but they were out of stock at Pep Boys. :P

from the dyno it just looks like a/f management problems. ur a/f ratios arent even on the charts so its hard to tell if its super rich. either way, having the a/f ratio at 10 and lower is really rich.

if it was an ignition or spark issue wouldnt that show on the dyno graph? the graph would be broken in a few spots if there was a spark issue.

just have street flight make a few adjustments or get an s-afc and adjust it yourself on a dyno. up to you...

First off the coil packs are the exact same from the 2.5 and the 3.0. Second, you may want to clean your MAF, cuz when it gets dirty it reads a lower frequency and tends to run richer, 12.6 is ideal on the dyno. Oil impregnated air filters are horrible for the mass air meter, K&N filters kept coating my sensor with oil over time so I switched to a different filter.
My advice, change the fuel filter and clean the MAF.

Don't think so. Go ahead and try putting one from a 3L Taurus on your Contour. Different mounting points. Guts are the same yes.

Also several 3L's have coil on plug which is completely different.

Also late 01+ 2.5L's went to a coil with different towers.

Where do you think I got my coil pack from? A 3.0L! My contour is a 95 and my coil pack is from a 2000 Taurus, mounting points, harness every thing is the same! Maybe on the newer models they are different but on mine they are EXACTLY the same.

Thanks for the input guys! Streetflight sent me another burn but the day I got the chip my alternator crapped out and I had to have it towed. Then I went to Mid-Ohio for the weekend and haven't been back to pick up the car yet. Going to try to get it dynoed next week again.
