Up until last weekend, I thought I always got my cars pretty clean. We sell a bunch of very nice vehicle appearance products here in my shop. Most of them I have tried, and use regularly. The one thing that I have never tried, or even given much thought to is the clay bar.
After washing my new CSVT Saturday, I noticed that the paint surface seemed pretty rough. I thought just for the hell of it I would try the clay bar that I sell in the shop. I ended up spending most of the day with some Wizards "Mist-n-Shine" and a Wizards clay bar. What an unbelievable difference. The surface is soooo smooth now. It took out so much ground in dirt. I finished by using a buffer with some "Finish Cut" then some "Shine Master" to seal it all off.
My car looks like it just rolled off the assembly line.

How is the clay bar used? Do you just rub the "infected" area and all the grime sticks to the bar?

The instructions on the one I used said to wash the car, then spray the Mist-n-Shine (a detailer spray) to lubricate the surface, then mold the clay bar into a pancake shape, and rub using no pressure in a circular motion. I could not believe how much addition dirt came out of my paint after I used the clay bar. It is one of those products that actually do what it claims to do!

I couldn't agree more. I've detailed many cars, and the only way I've ever had a paint job so smooth was after buffing it. The clay bar is worth every second you spend applying it, and the results are amazing. I'll do one fender on anyone's car who does not believe me.

Yeah, I bought a clay bar kit this past weekend and gave it a try. The results were quite impressive.
