I have 'found' a 'super' Contique article that I referenced long before I bought my '95 SE. Trouble is. I only referenced it - Nov 28, 1994 issue of Autoweek. The Article by Kevin A Wilson, from memory, basically said to "hold your foot to the floor and steer!" (NOT lift) when the car understeered, and the electronic (all speed) TC would modulate the traction as needed and accelerate out of the corner, after tiptoeing around the corner. Later, I also remember seeing a picture of only one side Mondeo front rotor in Autocar (?)(UK) that was prematurely worn into the internal 'vents'. At the time, there was 'no explanation' to this brake problem. MY explanation is that the TC probably 'braked' the one rotor - as the power on acceleration goes predominantly to one side - particularily when turning a corner (ie at an intersection - from a full stop) which wore out the rotor. I believe this is possibly one of the reasons Ford dropped the TC as an option starting in '97 on Contiques (but not on Mondeos and later Cougars). The article was the 'best' explanation of driving with TC, I wish that I could re-read the (old) article.

hmm, that sound right to me, that mean that pre97 could out cornor the svt's with similar suspension specs and all.

Except for Chris Wong's SVT,in GTA who apparently discovered he had a 'hidden TC' ie everything was hooked up except for, I believe, the 'off' control on the dash. Possibly there might be others as the Mondeo ST200 has TC. The engine is assembled, I think, in Ohio.

Trust me, if you have a SVT you don't want TC.

If they dropped TC in 97, my 99 must be special...factory TC.. eek

I know the TC is different on the 99's, no cable stretcher, the throttle isn't modulated, it works like the speed limiter...feels like major hesitation when it engages. According to OM, below 25MPH is brakes and Engine power, above 25, engine power only, so the stand on the power method won't work above 25 as the brakes aren't in play. Plus the power drop-off is big and noticeable. Probably be the slowest curve you ever take with that method. laugh

The original TC was 'all speed' so that engine power was retarded at higher speeds, and the brakes were not activated - I am not sure of the speed cutoff. The '94 Autoweek article covered a situation in California with sand on the corner, and a situation in Europe on a frozen lake. The car was kept out of the ditches in California, and out of the snow banks in Europe, with excellent car control.
