With a set of components, what's the best solution for mounting them? Is it best to just create a template for the existing speaker mount so a point source is maintained, or is it good to place the tweeter in a better location? I seem to remember someone drilling holes into the door armrest and mounting the tweeters in there a while back...anybody have info or pics about that? any other ideas? Thanks again everyone

Steve,
Yeah! Those are the pics I saw... are you happy with your setup? Just curious, but what component set are you using?

I put my tweeters on the trim piece that covers the side window defroster vents. I have the Boston Acoustic Ralley series components, the tweeters use two screws to mount the angle attatchment they come with. I drilled to holes on each side of the factory hole and drilled another one in the countersink hole for the speaker wire. I hope you understand, I dont have any pics. But the factory hole is covered by the tweet. Imaging is pretty good. Kinda confusing but I hope I helped.

I used velcro for my surface mount tweeters and haven't had one fall off since instalation last August. I'll check brand tonight.

Mine are in the same place as Mike's.

I installed some Boston Proseries 6.5 components in the factory front door locations. The interesting thing about these speakers is that they may be mounted as separates or coaxials. I mounted them coaxially. The sound from the tweeters is not blocked by your legs in the contique as the sound is in some cars. They sound pretty good. They're a little bass deficient. I will take care of this when I get my Infinity Beta 15 sub installed.
