I am thinking about purchasing a SVT with a salvate title, the only thing that needed to be replaced were the front bumber some sheet metal and the airbags. Would this be a good idea? The vin is 1FAFP68G8YK130138, if someone could run a carfax I would appreciate it. Thank you.
Sadly my sister got my contour because I left for college, but now I am in the market for a SVT

DO IT!!!!!!!!!! My SVT is a salvage car and is now legal. Rebuilding salvage cars is easy. As long as it's light front end damage do it. Air bags can be had for cheap on ebay. You don't need the car to look good either. Bring it in with all the damaged parts replaced and it'll pass. I had a trooper/inspector tell me as long as it's all fixed properly it can be rainbow colored. Some think you need to repaint the car too for inspection.. you don't Usually is cheaper to buy salvage cars and rebuild then buying a new car. Oh and resale isn't hurt that bad....I've seen rebuilt rollover CSVT's sell for more then 10K.

That's a damn good deal. I would get it if I were you. Most 2000's are around 10-11k. $7500 is a steal despite of it having a salvage title. Well good luck man. Tell us a little more about it.

How do you know he didn't throw on another Odometer or guage cluster while he was rebuilding it?
Be wary.

A Carfax would confirm that. Plus pre-50K Contours do still exist, especially of that year

before you buy it i would check wuth your insurance to make sure that there won't be any problem getting a car with a salvaged title covered. buddy had a very hard time getting his custom bike covered simply because the title said salvaged despite the perfect condition it was in.

Ok first there is no problem with insuance...unless it a custom or show car or like I have a 1993 5.0 mustang nothing special right its a convertible well I have over 20,000 in motor and trans very sweet car. Well the insurance company if I wreck it or its stolen will only pay what a 93 5.0 conv is worth, they do not care how much money I have in it. Has to an apparisal. you can not drive a salavge vechile it has to be inspected and then its called rebuit then it can be titled. As for the miles on the car....look at the title. If the title show higher miles then something is wrong. A car fax is a good idea.....but what some people on this site should know is that fords gauges SUCK MONKEY balls. So It might of been replaced....when a dealer does it they put a sticker in the door jam. If an auto rebuilder is the one with the car for sale....ask what was wrong with it. It is very possible for this many mile on an Csvt00 I know where one is totaled w/29,*** miles @ a salvage yard. hell I got a 1998 with a rebuilt title for sale/71,980 miles on it for $4550 in Indiana
