has anyone had experience adding colored leds to your dash gauges like so...

led lights install how-to

i installed mine and found the lights were bright in the needles but were dim around the gauges. and made it hard to see the numbers at night. i'm wondering if anyone has found this to be so if they've done this mod.

They're dull because there is a green film backing the gauges where the numbers are. The film filters out light that isn't green, so only part of your blue, red, amber, etc light will come through, the green part. You can take the gauges off and scratch that off, as I did with my headlight switch, but normally, the adhesive will pull the black with it and it'll end up looking like crap. Simple fix, inidglo overlays.

God graced us with intelligence, let's use it.

I haven't finished doing my gauges, in that link. I am doing a complete custom set to go with the LEDs. I really don't notice the green much, besides, next to the milage counter, uhh whats that called lol. everything else when looking at it, is pretty blue.
