Hey, I have a Eclipse 5434R and absoloutly love it. The best deck I have heard. THe power is rated lower than most other "high power" decks, but it is actually louder because of the sound quality.

Sony CDX-C90, Alpine CDA-7949(I have), Clarion 9255 I think, Eclipse 5303, Clarion DRX-9375, Alpine has a new coming out soon, I forget the name but you can see it at their site. www.alpine1.com Those are my choices. BTW, I've used extensively the Clarion 9375 and the Alpine 7949.

I just got the new silver jvc, the motorized one. So if anyone wants to buy a JVC LX-10 Kameleon, selling it for $120 and I will throw down shipping cause I need the cash.

I have the Blaupunkt Munchen in my '96 SE and am extremely happy with it. I don't know if it has cd-text capability or not. The cd section is one of the best that I auditioned and the tuner is absolutely the best. I never realized just how good the tuner section was until my wife and I traded vehicles for one day a couple of weeks ago and I needed a traffic report on the way to work. (The head unit in her car is a Nakamichi CD-35z, excellent cd section BTW.)

I hope this helps.

Higher end: Alpine, Nakamichi, Eclipse

Lower end: Sony ES, Clarion

Just my .02!

I've had the same Alpine single CD deck for over five years now with NO problems. Can't beat Alpine for quality IMHO. Good luck with your decision...

Later...

I've had the CDX-M750 for about 9 months now and I love it's looks, features and sound. When I first got it I had to get it replaced almost immediately as the buttons started to malfunction (thank god for Crutchfield service) Now I am starting to have the same problem with my second one (thank god for Sony ES 2 year warranty.)
