I am in the process of putting my baby (95 SE 2.5L V6 MTX) back on the road from a long stint off while the engine was being replaced and such. I went to drive her and the movement of the shifter left to right was very tough.
After some investigation into this, I found that the only reason the shifter was moving left to right is because the unit under the car is physically tipping in it's rubber mounts.
The connecting rod is moving fine in all directions, it just seems to be binding where the ball socket for the shifter is. Is there a procedure for fixing this or does that aluminum box that houses the ball and socket have to be replaced?
Any thoughts would be appreciated, it will shift, but itâ??s also bumping the bottom with the car with the Aluminum box and I am sure itâ??s only a matter of time before this becomes a problem.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
