i got the same thing.. i changed out the EGR valve and the EGR vacuum selenoid and still got the code P-0401... i will next change out the DPFE, and the leaking vacuum hose, one busted that goes to the vacuum source on the passenger side all the way to the firewall.... and take off the throttle body and clean up the cavity behing the gasket and goes to the EGR valve, get rid of all the crud back there and that ought to do it...

I had cleaned out the passages and still got the code it ended up being the DPFE. But to check the EGR you pull a vacuum on the EGR at idle and if it stumbles it is good. If you search there is a lot of posts on this. I would recommend checking the hoses then do the cleaning. If the code still exists check the EGR if it is good then replace the DPFE. Just like everyone is saying it helped me identify my problem.

Before replacing or cleaning anything, TEST it! This prevents wasted time and effort and helps you to be sure that the work you do will be able to correct the problem.
Search for "personal facial vac" for the thread that tells how.
