235K on the 95. Still going strong on original. Replaced the battery once though.

Could be a slipping/loose belt?

Replaced mine at ~70k.
Looks like I might need to replace it again. My lights (headlights & interior) start flickering at ~ 3k RMP, regardless of car speed.

Is it possible to replace the brushes? Couldn't find them available at Signiture or FordPartsonLine.

Also, seem to recall there being a simpler/faster way to replace the alternator other than the Ford Service method.
Anyone have a clue regarding the above?
Thanks,
R

I replaced my voltage regulator about a year ago, with about 47k miles, 4 yrs old. Then, I just replaced my brushes about two weeks ago, at 50,500 miles. Should have done the brushes when I did the voltage regulator!!! I think eventually I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the entire thing.

So, yes, all parts of the alternator can be replaced individually, I got them at Napa.

I am on number 3, and I didnt expect this one to survive this winter. It wont survive next winter, but hopefully I will be driving something else by then.

the se has been in suspended animation for damn near a year but still has the o.g. alternator @109.5k miles...and thats with the last several thousand miles being coated by oil from the leaky valve cover gasket.....

but it wont get replaced til the valve cover gaskets are done then its 200amp alty all the way
